Rod Lambert, an engineer by training (not registered in NY state), generally designs all of Creative Construction’s projects. He not only has designed large, dramatic spaces like the Genesee Valley Zen center, but is also the designer of record for the Second Neighborhood at EcoVillage at Ithaca, and for White Hawk EcoVillage in Danby, NY. Rod's skill at crafting affordable, low eco-footprint homes while also meeting a client’s budget, comes from the fact that he also builds what he designs.
Rod is familiar with cutting edge building science as well as recent improvements in green building. Rod's design services take the client from first thoughts, concepts and personal survey to permit/construction ready drawings.
Rod's typical design fee is between 2-3% of the house cost budget.
This range in fee is a reflection of the variation in difficulty of design he encounters. His services, which are billed separately from the project management fee, are initiated with a $700 retainer meant to get you through to the schematic stage of the design process.
Kristin Bartholomew has been practicing residential design for the past 20 years, much of it here in the Ithaca area. She received a Master's Degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado. Her true passion is blending beauty, efficiency, and the principles of design into every home she works on. A fan of small homes, clean lines, and functionality she enjoys the challenge of making the average house into a stunning home. Every design project starts with the home site, the views, the entrance direction and solar orientation, with an emphasis on bringing light into every space and making connections to the outdoors.
Kristin’s typical design fee is generally around 4% (or less) of the house budget, based on the amount of time it takes to design the home of your dreams.
