Consultation

If you're thinking of building a new home, call us to set up a no-fee consultation appointment.  We'll meet with you to discuss your ideas and offer our thoughts on the project. In that initial meeting, we'll listen to your hopes and concerns, explain our process, and answer your questions. We'll all get a sense of whether our company is a good fit for your project.

Creative Constructions owner, Rob Champion
History
Creative Constructions was founded by Robert Champion in 2006. Robert has been building in Ithaca since 2001. He moved to the region from inspiring environments such as the San Juan Islands and Cascade Mountains of Washington, and the Redwood forests of northern California, where he built off-the-grid homes.

A former teacher and artist, Robert built his own home as well as several others in the Second Neighborhood Group (SoNG) at EcoVillage at Ithaca, (2001-02). There he met designer Rod Lambert and the two have collaborated to design and build many projects throughout Tompkins County. Both Rod and Robert live with their families in modest, energy-efficient homes they created.

Over the years, the Creative Constructions team has grown to include ten skilled workmen. We also  collaborate with designer Kristin Bartholomew. Creative Constructions regularly partners with some of the area's best subcontractors, such as Adam Brown Plumbing, Steve King Concrete Specialists, and Enslow Landscaping and Excavation.

White Hawk Ecovillage

Creative Constructions is the principle builder for the neighborhood of White Hawk Ecovillage in Danby, NY.   White Hawk is a co-housing community, with a circle of thirty homes and a common house being built on a small section of the village's 120 rural acres. Residents in White Hawk can build any style of home they prefer, and with Rod Lambert as the principle designer, they know they are getting experience and value in their designs. Having built ten of the twelve homes at White Hawk, and with two more slated to start in 2020, Creative Constructions is a part of the village family.

Collaboration

Many clients enjoy getting involved in the work. Whether you’re a person who is looking to participate a little or a lot, we can provide varying levels of support and project management. We understand that for some, doing it themselves is just as important as getting it done.

Creative Constructions has the expertise to help our clients plug in to their project in a variety of ways. Whether its cleaning up around the site and lending an occasional hand, doing some painting, or something more involved, we can discuss these possibilities with you and likely find a way for you get your hands in on the process.
